Newbridge have done well this season finishing 3rdin the Leinster League Division 2A.  When you look back on the games, we played we finished 10 points behind Clondalkin who are promoted. But luck was not on our side. We were beaten by Clondalkin who won by 22 points to 21 having scored a penalty to overtake us in the last minute. We were beaten by Cill Dara after Karl Darragh scored a great drop goal with a few minutes to go to put us ahead.

But worst of all was the referring mistake down in Wexford. The ref noted a knock on by Wexford 20 metres from their line. He called for advantage to Newbridge who ran the ball to the wing for winger Robbie Browner to score a try to put us ahead in the final minute. The ref called us back and gave us a scrum advantage. When queried he stated that we had run over the dead ball line. As one of our supporters who was chatting to Wexford supporters on the goal line all were sure that he was well short of the dead ball line.

Lesson learned to close out the tight games next season.

The tight head propping of Tomas Munita, the ever-ageing drive and loud voice of Rory McCann, the slick delivery of Mark Delaney, the rock solid performance of Ronan Skehan at outhalf, the resurrection of Denis Clarke and the pure strength and skilful resolve of our captain Ronan Mangan were great to watch. Our coaches Derek Dowling, Ken Moore and Dave O’Sullivan are a credit to the Club both for their knowledge of the games and their cheerful personalities.
