Edenderry RFC vs Newbridge RFC – MATCH REPORT:

Played on Saturday night in freezing conditions of minus 2 degrees this was a bottom of the table Leinster League clash. Newbridge were outgunned until their mobility and fitness came to the fore in the last 10 minutes of the game when they scored 3 tries (2 converted) to share the spoils. Edenderry scored 4 tries with 3 of them converted to Newbridgeโ€™s 4 tries with 3 of them converted.

The intensity was high as both sides contested every ball. Edenderry scored first in the 20th minute with a converted try. In the 26th minute Newbridgeโ€™s No.8 Mark Doyle came from a great angel to score near the posts which outhalf Sebastian Berti converted. In the 38th minute Edenderry came on strong and scored a try out wide to leave it at half time at 12 points to 7.

Newbridge tried to shore things up with several changes. Ronan Mangan, Donal Cashman, Ian Oโ€™Rahelly and Cameron English all came on, but it was Edenderry who scored converted tries in the 54th and 63rd minutes. Edenderry now looked to be out of sight as Newbridge trailed by 26 points to 7. It a never say die performance Newbridge got the bit between their teeth with 10 minutes left to go in the game. Eimhin Conroy on the wing gathered an Edenderry kick ahead to score a good individual try in the corner in the 70th minute. In the 78th minute with a lot of pressure from the Newbridge pack outhalf Karl Darragh got over under the posts for a try converted by fullback Donal Cashman. In the 80th minute Conroy was again on hand to score a try out wide which was converted with a great kick from Cashman to leave the sides level.

Best for Newbridge were Mark Doyle and Idris Rqibi in the forwards while Denis Clarke was dogged in his tackling and Mark Delaney at scrum half speeded up the game at every opportunity.
