Delighted to announce the addition of Johne Murphy to our Senior coaching team. Johne will join up with Derek Dowling and Ken Moore and will help with the clubs push for promotion from Leinster League 2A and to establish an U20s side.

Johne brings a wealth of experience having played professional Rugby for nearly 10 years. As well as spending five seasons with Munster, in which he made 91 appearances and won a Magners League title, Johne also enjoyed a successful stint with Leicester Tigers. He made the move to England from Lansdowne in 2006 and went on help the Tigers win three Premiership titles. He has also played for the Ireland ‘A’, Wolfhounds and Emerging sides.

Johne was a player coach with Naas RFC helping them to AIL 1B promotion. He also coached the St. Marys Senior Cup Squad and was assistant coach of the Ireland Club side. He is a very highly regarded coach and his signing is a major coup for Newbridge RFC.

Johne is a native of Rathangan, Co. Kildare and is a past pupil of Newbridge College.

Itโ€™s a very exciting time for Newbridge Rugby club. It’s a massive sign of intent from the club and one that can take us to the next level. We wish Johne all the best for the season ahead.
