Patrician SS Nenridge 42 Oatlands College Dublin 12
Congratulations to the Patricians SS JCT who are now into the Semi-Finals of Leinster's Pat Rossiter Schools Cup. Patrician SS Juniors defeated Oatlands College by 42pts to 12 on Thursday 7th December in Dublin at Stradbrook, the home of Blackrock RFC. This was a tough game full of effort, energy and determination. Both teams displayes guts, graft and great rugby.
There were standout performances across the whole PSS team with committed defence, sharp attacking rugby and smart tactical kicking on display. Well done to all involved. A special word of continuing thanks to Ms. Langton, Mr. McGrath and Mr. Burke for all their work in supporting this team. Pictured below left is the winning Patrician SS JCT panel.
Last weekend Leinster Cup competitions commenced for most of Newbridge's Youth and School/Youth teams. On Saturday 27th January the Under 18s had to travel north to play Boyne in the Darcy Cup. They found it tough going losing by 25 pts to nil.
On Sunday 28th Newbridge had 3 teams in cup action. The Under 13s travelled to Kilkenny in the McGowan Cup and recorded an impressive 53 pts to nil victory. The Under 14s played a Greystone's team in Rosetown and also recorded a impressive win by 54 pts to 10. Newbridge Under 17s had a titanic battle with Clondalkin in Leinster's Culliton Cup. The final score in Rosetown was Newbridge U17s 38 Clondalkin U17s 33. Newbridge's Under 15s, enjoyed a first round bye in the Leinster McAuley Cup. The Under 17s are pictured above right. The second round matches are during the weekend of 17th/18th February.
Pulsating Pat Rossiter Schools Cup Final

On Thursday 25th January Patrician SS Junior Cup Team (Under 16) won a pulsating match to claim the Leinster Schools Pat Rossiter Junior Development Cup The final was played against Ballymakenny College, Drogheda at Leinster Rugby's Donnybrook ground. The game ended on a score of Patricians 36 pts Ballymakenny 31. Newbridge had trailed by 26 pts to 7 at half time but the Newbridge team never gave up trying and staged a fantastic second half recovery. Huge congratulations are due to the players from PSS, their coaches and teachers. Well done to everyone involved. This is another huge step in the development of Rugby in the Newbridge area.

On Wednesday 10th January the JCT (Under 16s) from Patricians SS Newbridge defeated Tallaght Community School in the Semi-Final of Leinster's Pat Rossiter Cup (Junior Development Cup). In the match played at Naas RFC's Forenaughts ground PSS won by 48 pts to Nil scoring 8 tries. Newbridge RFC congratulates all involved with this great achievement, the players (many members of the club), the coaches and the teachers. PSS will now play Ballymakenny College, Drogheda in the final. Patricians SS JCT pictured below left.
As with the Seniors the Leinster Youth Leagues take a break as the various Leinster Cup competitions commence. This weekend, 27th and 28th January, Newbridge have four teams competing in Round 1 of the various Cups. these are the Under 13s, Under 14s, Under 17s and Under 18s. Newbridge's fifth Youth Boys team, the Under 15s, enjoy a first round bye so they are playing a friendly.

Good luck to ALL Newbridge Youth teams this weekend
It was a 100% winning record for the Newbridge Youth teams last weekend. On Friday night, 9th February, under lights in Rosetown, Newbridge Under 18s had a good win over Portarlington in a friendly. Then on Sunday 11th February, again in Rosetown, our Under 14s defeated Malahide and our Under 17s defeated Greystones. Also on Sunday Newbridge Under 13s travelled to Enniscorthy and came away with a deserved victory. The tremendous performances of Newbridge Under 13s continued in Rosetown on Saturday evening,17th February. Under lights, in the second round of Leinster's McGowan Cup, our Under 13s defeated Edenderry by 43 pts to 7. In the third round Newbridge will be away to league rivals Tullamore on 11th March (tbc).
Then in Rosetown on Sunday,Newbridge Under 14s secured another great win for this team, this time dispatching St.Mary's College RFC Youth Rugby by 27 pts to 0 in the second round of Leinster's U14 School/Youths Cup. See Under 14 photographs below right.
On Wednesday 17th January Patrician Secondary School SCT (Under 19) reached the final of Leinster Schools Anne McInerney Cup. Playing against Colaiste Cois Life, Lucan they won their semi-final by scoring 4 tries, one converted, to a single converted try. The final score, in the match, moved into Newbridge College due to the weather conditions, was Patricians SS 22 Colaiste Cois Life 7. Patricians SS team is made up of players from Newbridge and Cill Dara RFCs. Both teams and the organisers are grateful to Newbridge College for allowing the use of their facilities.
Patricians SS SCT now join the school's JCT in a Leinster Schools final. Congratulations to all players, coaches, teachers and parents involved with the development of rugby in the school. This achievement is brilliant for Rugby in the school and also in Newbridge Rugby Club. Well done !!
Newbridge Under 13s have now reached the final of Leinster's McGowan Cup. On Saturday 24th March they defeated a very good Athy team in a semi-final played at Cill Dara RFC by 31 pts to 19. Well done to the 21 members of the Newbridge squad who all played today delivering this great performance against a strong Athy squad. The players from both clubs contributed to this great showcase game demonstrating all that is good in Youth rugby in the North Midlands Area. Newbridge Under 13s are having a great season having also reached the semi-final stages of the Leinster Premier League. Congratulations to ALL involved
On Saturday 13th January Newbridge Under 18s travelled to Portarlington and recorded a great win by 17 pts to Nil. This was a great team performance by the visitors full of good attacking play in tricky conditions. Newbridge are now 2nd in their Leinster League with 4 wins from 6 games. Also on Saturday 13th in a crucial top of the league match Newbridge Under 13s entertained Tullamore at Rosetown. In challenging conditions Newbridge lost by 19 pts to 12. Newbridge still lead this league, Leinster Youths Premier, with 5 wins from their 6 matches but are only 1 point ahead of Tullamore who still have a match to play, What ever the outcome this has been an excellent league campaign from these young players.
On Sunday 14th January Newbridge Under 14s travelled to Clane and after another great performance in a very entertaining game.defeated the home side by 33 pts to 12. See above left for match photographs.

BE PROUD - What a great effort !! In a match played in Donnybrook on Thursday 8th MarchNewbridge Patrician Secondary School lost in the final of Leinster's Anne McInerney Senior Development Cup. However Patricians SS put in a great effort and pulled back a 15 point deficit to only lose by 8 points at the final whistle. The final score was St Mels College, Longford 20 pts (4 tries) Newbridge PSS 12 (2 tries). The Patricians SS squad is packed with players from Newbridge RFC and Cill Dara RFC. On Monday 4th December in Rosetown Patrician Secondary School (PSS) Newbridge played St Kevins Community College, Dunlavin in the Quarter Final of the Anne McInerney Leinster Senior Development Cup.

A tough match between two good teams play who played some super rugby each side making a huge effort. In the end Patrician SCT defeated St Kevins Dunlavin by 27 pts to 15 after a bruising encounter. The commitment of both groups of players reflected very positively on both schools. Compliments to all who support all these young men through rugby. This is a great result for the Patrician Secondary School with the team being filled with players from Newbridge RFC and Cill Dara RFC. On Wednesday17th January Patrician Secondary School SCT (Under 19) play in the Leinster Schools Anne McInerney Cup Semi-Final.against Colaiste Cois Life, Lucan at 11am in Naas RFC. The team is made up of players from Newbridge and Cill Dara RFCs. It would be great to have a crowd to cheer them on as they continue to break new ground and chase cup glory!!! Newbridge Under 13s enjoyed a great day at the St. Stephens Day 'TAG-tastic'. Well done to all the Under 13s, their families and coaches who had great FUN in Kilcullen. The TAG match included searing speed, silken skills and sublime support play from all the players and even the 'parents' team on occasion.... !!! Thanks to all for supporting this super event.
On Saturday 16th December Newbridge U18s lost by 7 points away to Cill Dara in the Semi-Final of the North Midland Area Osbourne Cup. The final score was Cill Dara 20 Newbridge 13.
On Sunday 25th February the Clane/Newbridge combined Under 15 Youth team recorded an excellent Leinster League win against New Ross. Played in Rosetown the home side won by 27 points to 7 and secured a try bonus point. The whole squad produced a top class display. The second half in particular was full of inventive, incisive and effective rugby driven by quick rucking and varied attacking play. Thanks to all who coach, support and mentor this squad who are really beginning to gel and grow as a group.Team pictured above left.

There was a great win for the Newbridge Under 14 side when they defeated near neighbours Cill Dara by 48 pts to 7. It was a brilliant all round performance by the young Newbridge team. Newbridge now top Leinster School/Youths Under 14 Division 1 league with 2 wins from 2 matches. Next up are Clane away on Sunday 14th January. Well done to all involved. Newbridge Under 15s travelled to Birr to play their latest Leinster League match against R&B Rebels (Roscrea & Birr). In a closely fought exciting match Newbridge were defeated by a strong Rebels team by 32 pts to 25 but came away with a losing bonus point.
Newbridge Under 18s have advanced to the Leinster Youths League Division 2 Final after successfully defeated Co Carlow in Friday evenings Semi-Final. The match was played in Rosetown on Friday 23rd March. Following a great display of attacking rugby Newbridge secured a brilliant 28 pts to 10 win. Congratulations to ALL involved
Newbridge Under 18s finished second in the Under 18 Leinster League Division 2 after a great result against Co Carlow winning by 43 pts to 5. Played in Rosetown on Sunday 11th March Newbridge put in a very strong performance throughout the team. This result turned around a narrow loss in the early season away fixture to Carlow and clearly demonstrates the development in the side.
Well done to all involved!
