On Sunday 27th September Newbridge RFC hosted an Old Kilcullen RFC Reunion which was attended by many past members, players, supporters and well wishers who had been involved with the club from the late 1960s to the mid 1990s. Thank you to Niall Browne for his organisation ably assisted by Josie Byrne. Also thank you to Fiona Nugent and Kate McCoy for the catering and everyone else who assisted in making this a successful and enjoyable occasion.

The club’s president, Dave Ashe, is a very proud man. His Grand Nephew, Kieran Dunne,
has recently been capped for Ireland Under 18s at outside centre (No13). Ireland beat
Portugal and Kieran scored a try.
Kieran’s paternal grandfather was Eamonn Dunne who comes from Monasterevin. His mother
is Dave’s niece, Sharon Ashe from Dingle, County Kerry. Kieran now lives in Manchester and I
s a member of the Sale Sharks Academy. He has played for the Irish Exiles against Munster,
Connacht and Leinster. In the Leinster match in Donnybrook he scored 2 tries playing at No13.
Kieran has now been invited to the IRFU Ireland Camp in December where Ireland Under 18
will train for their Six Nations competition in the Spring. Newbridge RFC wish Kieran all the very best and will be watching with interest as his rugby career develops. The photographs to the right show Kieran playing for Ireland against Portugal and being presented with his Irish cap.
Did you ever wonder who cleans up the clubhouse in Rosetown after a Minis session on a Saturday. Well one parent, Tadas Peveraitis, identified an issue that he could help the club solve. His club is very grateful to Tadas for his support. Tadas also helped to spruce up the club's facilities before December's very successful Captain's Night.
Tadas runs a company that offers Professional Cleaning Services, Ultra House Cleaning. He is very happy to quote for any cleaning requirement you may require.
It is an honour for me, as President of Newbridge RFC, to convey the good wishes of the Executive Committee to all our players, all our supporters and all of your families. Let me wish you a happy Christmas and a prosperous and winning New Year.
The 1st XV have had a reasonable run and are currently 5th in the table. We should have beaten Edenderry and Portlaoise but will get another go at them in the new year. In beating Athboy we showed that our team has come together and with the addition of the back from injury Sacramento maestro, Garret Brewer, we have plenty to look forward to. I would like to thank Richie and Rory, our coaches, who are doing very well. Our 2nds XV team are struggling to field but we must do better here otherwise our 1st XV will only get an away draw in the Provincial Towns Cup.
The Open Day in September was very successful, as was IRFU Club Draw. Our Under 17s are doing very well and our Youths & Minis section is superb. I would like to thank all of the coaches, administrators and parents without whose assistance this could not be achieved. The club’s Captain’s Night was a great success, both very enjoyable and a useful fund raiser. Our Club has a terrific internal spirit so let’s build on it.
Is mor an onoir domsa, Uachtaran Rugbai Droichead Nua, gach gui a casadh don Nollag ar gach einne ata ag imirt in ar gclub, lucht tacaiochta agus ar muinitr gach einne. Ba mhaith liom ghuí ar gach duine beannacht um Nollaig agus bliain nua saibhre agus bhuaigh oraibh go leir.
On behalf of the club, I extend to you the warmest season's greetings for a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and winning New Year.
President Newbridge RFC
